Improvisation 1685

19th May 2024

piano improvisation

For this recital at Church of the Holy Innocents, Hammersmith, I had quite a fun idea. What if I interleaved pairs of pieces and then improvised on the link between them. There were three pairs: 1685, German romanticism and across the Atlantic. You can read more about these in the programme I wrote. which you can see more of in the programme.

This particular improvisation was done after I played a Bach prelude and fugue and a pair of Scarlatti sonatas (both of whom were born in 1685). I hope you enjoy it, and if you are ever looking for someone to fill a recital space, you can contact me here.
