A Sunny Friday
Suspended in a ray of sunlight,
The hummingbird opens her wings
And radiant iridescence shines.
The blue-open-up is of eternal truth
Who’s empty is its fullness -
The rhythms of silence are strange here.
Second year of living, we found
The feet clasping clods of earth
As a tree rooting itself in this world.
And much later, when
the hummingbirds feathers had fallen,
I stumbled upon a weed in this concrete jungle
These leafy tendrils unashamedly long
For the fast-fading sun -
Striving heavenward as a dancer leaps
For joy…
So, here i am, blue-eyed with
An iridescent mind - tumbling over words
To find the space between them.
