A Tree in Victoria

How easy the tree,
How slow and wide its tread,
Dancing playful
no matter the weather.

Patient time keeper,
Whose steady rings make mockery
Of the frenzy of the human span.

Ancient seer of eternal compassion,
Giving oxygen to the daylight patter or
The latenight howling.

How stable its feet and agile its arms,
How soft its knowledge
And patient its living.

How perfect its music of being!
