i sit and listen
Huddle me warm among
the shells on the shore,
iridescence inverted
to a soft calcium core.
And these spirals
are a smile;
or a tear wound around
a hope.
Tell me the texture of grass
as i sit in my caged-fear
and cry,
so that i may glimpse the vibrancy
of life amidst my torture.
You spoke with the wings
of a dove, loving the very
centre of my heart –
do not worry cynicism into all –
for it is perfect in this breath.
Paused in its endless rhythm;
This generative chaos is not anxiety,
it is hope
amidst the river shallows or the branching
out to the sun
(surya namaskar in an earthy embrace)
Warm inward smile,
as gentle as refracted sunlight.
I see God in your eyes.
Know that the unfathomable depth
of Love is there also,
no matter how cold-blue sunlight
filtering through closed, blind,
and it warms from within
emerging is the motion
of Love
and it is anything open.
For the truest embrace is not to select one
to the exclusion of Other,
but to embrace the whole cosmos,
in all its dynamic motion.
